HOMBYS 6 Inch Folding Mattress Twin Size - Portable Tri-Fold Memory Foam Mattress with Removable Washable Cover for Guest Room, Camping & Travel, CertiPUR-US Certified

Product Overview

This twin-size folding mattress measures 75 inches long by 35.5 inches wide by 6 inches thick when fully expanded. The 6-inch thickness comprises a three-layer foam system with memory foam for pressure relief and high-density support foam for spinal alignment. A non-slip base helps keep the mattress securely in place during use. The removable cover features a zipper closure and comes in reversible gray and white colors. After vacuum-sealed shipping, the mattress requires 24-48 hours to fully expand in a well-ventilated area, though some reviewers report complete expansion within 2 hours. When folded, the mattress measures approximately the size of an ottoman according to reviewers, making it suitable for closet storage or car transport. The included storage bag and integrated handles facilitate moving between rooms or locations. While designed as a twin mattress, its 6-inch thickness means standard twin sheets may fit loosely but can be tucked underneath. The mattress weighs 20.9 pounds, which reviewers describe as substantial but manageable with the durable handles. HOMBYS indicates this mattress is suitable for both adults and children.

Design & Build

The HOMBYS folding mattress employs a straightforward tri-fold design that divides the 75-inch length into three approximately equal sections. This folding pattern creates a compact package roughly the size of an ottoman when stored, with integrated fabric handles positioned on the folded unit for carrying. The mattress itself consists of three foam layers totaling 6 inches in height: a top layer of responsive memory foam for pressure relief, a middle layer of high-density support foam for maintaining spinal alignment, and a bottom non-slip base that helps prevent sliding during use. All foam components are CertiPUR-US certified, meeting standards for durability, emissions, and content. The entire foam core is encased in a removable cover that zips completely off for cleaning.

The removable cover features a breathable fabric construction with reversible gray and white sides, allowing users to choose their preferred aesthetic. Reviewers praise the cover's soft texture and quality craftsmanship, noting the smooth-operating zippers that facilitate removal. When folded, the mattress measures approximately 35.5 inches wide by 25 inches deep by 18 inches high based on reviewer descriptions of ottoman-like dimensions. The 20.9-pound weight makes it substantial but manageable with the reinforced handles. Cleaning is simplified by the machine-washable cover, though the foam core itself should not be submerged. The tri-fold design elevates sleepers approximately 6 inches off the ground, providing insulation from cold or hard surfaces.

Performance

In practical use, reviewers report the mattress provides surprisingly supportive comfort that exceeds typical air mattresses or thin cot pads. The 6-inch foam construction creates a stable foundation that prevents sleepers from feeling the floor beneath them, with minimal motion transfer between users. The memory foam layer offers pressure relief while the support foam maintains firmness that accommodates various body types. Reviewers note the mattress feels durable and well-made, with no noticeable sagging even after repeated use. The non-slip base effectively keeps the mattress in place on smooth floors. Some reviewers mention using the mattress for floor seating during gaming or movie watching, appreciating its dual functionality beyond sleeping applications.

Temperature performance varies based on environment, with the breathable cover helping to mitigate heat retention. The foam expansion process after unpacking requires patience—manufacturer guidelines suggest 24-48 hours in a well-ventilated space, though some reviewers report complete expansion within 2 hours. Unlike some foam products, multiple reviewers note minimal odor during this expansion period. The tri-fold design maintains its creases without damaging the foam, allowing repeated folding and unfolding. Storage considerations are important—when folded, the mattress requires significant closet space or can be stored under beds with sufficient clearance. The 20.9-pound weight makes it portable but somewhat heavy for frequent carrying over long distances. The handles prove durable according to reviewers, adequately supporting the weight during transportation.
