シモンズ Simmons Amazon Exclusive - Premium Hybrid Memory Foam Mattress - 12 Review

The Simmons Premium Hybrid Memory Foam Mattress is a 12-inch bed-in-a-box designed for sleepers seeking a balanced medium-firm feel with enhanced cooling features. This Amazon-exclusive model combines individually wrapped pocketed coils with multiple layers of gel-infused memory foam to address common sleep complaints like overheating and motion transfer. It targets adults who want the contouring comfort of memory foam without the deep sinkage, plus the responsive support of traditional innersprings. The mattress arrives compressed in a box for easy setup, expanding to full size within hours. Key value propositions include the Climate Cool moisture-wicking cover technology, 350 pocketed coils for motion isolation, and CertiPUR-US certified foams for safety and durability. Reviewers note it feels softer than expected initially but provides firm underlying support, making it suitable for combination sleepers and couples with different body types.

Product Overview

This Simmons hybrid mattress measures 74.5 inches long by 38 inches wide by 12 inches thick in the Twin size reviewed, weighing 62 pounds. The construction features three primary layers: a quilted top cover with integrated cooling gel foam, a middle layer of soothing gel memory foam, and a base of 350 individually wrapped pocketed coils. The cover incorporates Climate Cool moisture-wicking technology to help regulate temperature and has a zipper for removable cleaning. The pocketed coil system allows airflow through the mattress while isolating motion between sleep partners. The mattress is described as having a 'Plush' firmness level by the manufacturer, though many reviewers characterize it as medium-firm with a slightly softer top layer. It comes compressed and rolled in a box for shipping, requiring 24-48 hours to fully expand and off-gas any initial odor. The design is not foldable or portable once expanded. It fits standard Twin bed frames and is intended for adult use. Care involves spot cleaning the cover and rotating the mattress periodically. Some reviewers mention using it on adjustable bases, though one noted significant wrinkling when articulated. The 12-inch thickness provides substantial depth for most sleepers, though those preferring extra plushness might consider adding a topper.

Design & Build

The Simmons Premium Hybrid Mattress features a three-layer construction designed for durability and comfort. The top layer is a quilted cover with integrated cooling gel foam, providing immediate coolness and moisture-wicking through Climate Cool technology. This cover is removable via a zipper for easier cleaning. Beneath lies a layer of gel-infused memory foam, approximately 1-2 inches thick according to reviewers, which contours to the body while dissipating heat. The base consists of 350 individually wrapped pocketed coils, each moving independently to isolate motion and allow airflow. The coils are encased in a foam border, though some reviewers note feeling them near the edges. The mattress measures 12 inches thick overall, with a tight-top style that prevents excessive sinkage. Materials are CertiPUR-US certified, ensuring low VOC emissions and durability. The white color and simple design fit most bedroom aesthetics. The mattress arrives vacuum-sealed in a box, expanding to full dimensions within hours, though corners may take longer to fully form. It weighs 62 pounds in Twin size, making it manageable for one person to position.

Build quality receives mixed feedback. Many reviewers praise the sturdy feel and lack of sagging after months of use. The pocketed coil system provides firm edge support, though one critical review mentions protruding coils along the perimeter. The quilted cover shows minimal pilling or wear in most reports. The gel memory foam layer maintains its shape without permanent indentations, according to long-term users. Cleaning is straightforward with spot treatment and occasional rotation. The mattress is not designed to be folded or portable once expanded. Some users report initial off-gassing odor that dissipates within a week if aired properly. The lack of side support rails, noted in one review, may affect durability on adjustable bases. Overall, the construction balances comfort features with robust support components, though quality control inconsistencies appear in isolated complaints.

Performance

Performance-wise, this hybrid mattress excels in temperature regulation and motion isolation. The cooling gel foam quilted top provides a noticeably cool surface, with many reviewers confirming reduced night sweats. The Climate Cool moisture-wicking technology effectively pulls heat away from the body, maintaining a comfortable sleep environment. The pocketed coils enhance airflow, preventing heat buildup in the core. Motion isolation is strong due to the independently wrapped coils; partners report minimal disturbance when the other moves or gets up. The medium-firm feel offers a balance of contouring and support, suitable for back, side, and stomach sleepers. Heavier users, including one reviewer at 280 pounds, find it supportive without excessive sinkage. The gel memory foam layer relieves pressure points while preventing the stuck feeling of traditional memory foam. Edge support is adequate for sitting, though some note slight compression when sleeping near the perimeter. The mattress maintains its shape over time, with no significant sagging reported in the first several months.

Real-world performance shows some variability. While most users describe it as comfortably firm, a few find it too firm initially, wishing for more plushness. The break-in period can take weeks, during which the foam softens slightly. Temperature control works well for average sleepers, though extremely hot sleepers may still need additional cooling aids. Leakage of coil sensation along edges, mentioned in one critical review, appears uncommon but highlights potential quality inconsistencies. The mattress performs well on flat surfaces and standard bed frames, but on adjustable bases, one user observed wrinkling when articulated. Noise from the coils is minimal, with no squeaking reported. Durability seems promising, with users noting retained support after months of use. The 12-inch height fits most sheets and provides substantial depth for comfort. Overall, it delivers on its hybrid promise, blending foam comfort with spring responsiveness, though individual firmness preferences will determine satisfaction.

Excellent Medium-Firm Simmons Mattress
The Simmons 12-inch mattress is fantastic! It took around 3-4 days to fully expand after unpacking, but the wait was absolutely worth it. The cover features cool wicking technology and a zipper, ensuring comfortable and confident sleep. While the spring coils might seem a bit intimidating and slightly protruding at first, they're cushioned by three layers of gel foam. When lying on it, the mattress feels like memory foam but without sinking in, instead floating on the gel layers. After shopping for about three months for a medium-firm mattress leaning toward the firmer side for long-term support, I found this Simmons 12-inch model to meet all my needs perfectly.
Outstanding RV Mattress Surpasses Expectations
We bought this mattress for our new RV to replace the old one, and it has exceeded our expectations! As a larger person at 280 lbs and 6 feet tall, and my wife being much smaller and shorter, we both absolutely adore this mattress. We are temporarily living in our camper while searching for a new home after selling ours quickly. We own a relatively new Sleep Number King split mattress that cost over $7000 and is now in storage, but in my opinion, it doesn't compare to this one in terms of comfort or cooling. This mattress feels incredibly soft yet provides excellent support for someone of my size. We hope it maintains this level of comfort for years to come since we plan to keep the camper. After having it for two months, we are thrilled with this purchase and highly recommend it!
Hybrid Mattress Review: Quality but Firmer Than Expected
The delivery of this hybrid mattress was impressive, arriving vacuum-sealed in a compact package. However, I almost made a mistake by nearly opening the wrong size—I received a full instead of a queen. After following the instructions to unroll and let it puff up for 24 hours, we've been using it since late February. Previously, we switched from a full coil mattress to memory foam, which was uncomfortable due to sinking and not helping with aches. The Simmons hybrid seemed like a good solution for its firmer support with a soft top, but after use, I find it's not as soft as I'd hoped. I considered a thicker mattress but worried it might worsen the firmness. Despite not breaking in to the desired softness, it allows more freedom of movement at night and is a quality upgrade from our old mattress. Choosing a mattress online without testing is challenging, so we might try a pillow topper to adjust the softness.
