Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid King Mattress 14 Inch - Medium Firm Memory Review

The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid is a 14-inch mattress designed for sleepers seeking a balance of contouring comfort and responsive support. It targets individuals with pressure point issues, such as side sleepers or those with back pain, by combining therapeutic memory foam with individually-wrapped steel springs. The standout feature is its dual-action cooling technology, which uses copper fibers to wick away body heat, aiming to reduce night sweats and promote cooler sleep. With a medium-firm feel rated around 6.5 on a 10-point scale, it offers adaptive support for various sleeping positions. The mattress comes with an industry-leading 365-night home trial and a forever warranty, providing long-term peace of mind. It arrives compressed in a box for easy setup, expanding to full size within 24 hours. This model is part of Nectar's premium lineup, emphasizing durability and enhanced edge support through its coil system.

Product Overview

The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid mattress measures 80 inches long by 76 inches wide by 14 inches thick in the King size, with a weight of 94 pounds, making it substantial yet manageable with assistance. It features a 7-layer construction that includes a Euro Top with therapeutic memory foam and ActiveLift foam for pressure relief, a dynamic transition layer for tailored support, and individually-wrapped Infinity steel springs for bounce and edge-to-edge stability. The cover incorporates dual-action cooling technology with heat-absorbent polyethylene and real copper fibers to dissipate excess warmth. Care instructions advise against removing the cover or dry cleaning; using a mattress protector is recommended to maintain hygiene. The mattress requires no assembly and comes as a single piece, expanding from its compressed state after unboxing. Variants may include other sizes like Queen or California King, though specifics are not detailed in the input. Ergonomically, it aims to promote proper spinal alignment and reduce motion transfer, beneficial for couples. Portability is aided by a shift-resistant lower cover with handles, though its weight necessitates careful handling. The firmness level is marketed as medium-firm, but reviewers note variability, with some finding it softer than expected. Compatibility with standard bed frames is typical, but edge support may be less rigid than traditional innerspring mattresses, affecting sitting or getting out of bed.

Design & Build

The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid features a robust 7-layer construction that blends foam and springs for a supportive yet comfortable sleep surface. The top layer is a Euro Top with therapeutic memory foam and ActiveLift foam, designed to contour to the body and alleviate pressure points, particularly for side sleepers. Beneath this, a dynamic transition layer provides tailored support, enhancing spinal alignment and adding rebound. The core consists of individually-wrapped Infinity steel springs, which offer edge-to-edge support and reduce motion transfer, making it suitable for couples. The base layer, ActiveSupport foam, stabilizes the entire structure. The cover is crafted with dual-action cooling technology, incorporating polyethylene and copper fibers to wick away heat and promote breathability. A shift-resistant lower cover with handles facilitates moving the mattress, though its 94-pound weight in King size requires effort. Aesthetics include a simple white design, with care instructions advising against cover removal or dry cleaning; using a mattress protector is recommended for maintenance. The mattress expands from a compressed state after unboxing, reaching full thickness within 24 hours, with no assembly needed. Durability is backed by a forever warranty, though reviewers note that edge support may feel softer than expected, affecting sitting comfort.

Materials are CertiPUR-US certified, ensuring they are free from harmful chemicals and meet safety standards. The hybrid design aims to balance the contouring feel of memory foam with the responsiveness of springs, reducing the sink-in sensation common in all-foam models. The cooling cover is a standout, with copper fibers intended to dissipate body heat, though some reviewers report overheating if a waterproof protector is used, blocking airflow. Cleaning is straightforward with spot cleaning recommended, and the handles aid in lifting for vacuuming underneath. The mattress fits standard bed frames, but its 14-inch height may require deep-pocket sheets. Build quality is generally praised for reducing back pain and improving sleep, but a few users mention the edges collapse when sat on, indicating less rigid perimeter support. Overall, the design prioritizes comfort and cooling, with practical features for ease of use and long-term reliability.

Performance

In terms of comfort and support, the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid performs well for many sleepers, particularly side sleepers who benefit from its pressure-relieving memory foam. Reviewers report reduced back and hip pain, with some noting improved sleep quality and minimal motion transfer, making it ideal for couples. The medium-firm feel, around 6.5 on a scale, provides adaptive support that contours to the body while maintaining responsiveness from the steel springs. However, experiences vary: some users find it softer than advertised, leading to insufficient support for taller individuals or those needing firmer surfaces. The cooling technology generally helps reduce night sweats, but effectiveness can depend on bedding; one reviewer mentioned overheating ceased after removing a waterproof mattress cover. Insulation behavior is not specifically detailed, but the hybrid construction likely offers moderate temperature regulation compared to all-foam options. Condensation or sweat is minimized by the breathable cover, though a few reports of initial overheating suggest variability based on individual sleep habits and room conditions.

Durability and practical performance are highlighted by the forever warranty and robust construction. The mattress shows good resilience to sagging over time, with users praising its longevity up to two years. Edge support is a noted trade-off: while the Infinity coils aim to enhance the perimeter, reviewers describe the edges as soft and prone to collapsing when sat on, which can be inconvenient for getting in and out of bed. Drop or dent resilience is not explicitly mentioned, but the hybrid build likely withstands regular use better than all-foam models. Weight and portability are considerations due to its 94-pound mass, though handles aid movement. Fit in standard bed frames is typical, but the lack of a firm edge may affect those accustomed to traditional innerspring mattresses. Overall, performance balances comfort and cooling with some compromises in edge support, making it best for sleepers who prioritize pressure relief and adaptive feel over rigid perimeters.

Excellent Mattress Experience
After nearly two years of use, I continue to be amazed each night when I get into bed. This mattress truly lives up to its reputation and exceeds all expectations. I absolutely adore it!
Very satisfied after 5 months
After 5 months, I truly love this mattress. I intended to update my review earlier. I experience minimal to no back pain and sleep better than before. At the 2-week mark, I was happily surprised to find that the more I slept on it, the more I liked it. I have a pars fracture at L5, which often causes back pain, but this mattress has provided better sleep than my previous Serta sleeper pillow top. Removing the waterproof mattress cover, as advised by a friend, resolved overheating and night sweats issues, as it was blocking the cooling benefits. Initially, after waiting 72 hours, I overheated and had night sweats with the AC at 65 degrees, which was disappointing. Sitting on the mattress felt like sinking in, raising concerns about support, but once lying down with weight distributed, it improved significantly.
Misleading Firmness and Poor Support Lead to Disappointment
I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. I require a supportive mattress, and despite being marketed as medium-firm, this one is extremely soft—even softer than extra plush options I've tried. As a tall person (6 feet), my head and feet reach the edges, where the lack of support causes sagging. This misalignment lifted my torso, resulting in severe back pain. I believe this mattress contributed to a back injury that sent me to the ER about a month after purchase. Returning the mattress was difficult. It couldn't be repackaged in its original vacuum-sealed box. Amazon assisted by allowing a return to the distributor without extra shipping fees, though I spent $30 on packaging. Getting it to UPS was inconvenient. Upon return, I received only a $600 refund out of the $700 paid. Overall, this purchase was a regrettable mistake, made in search of a replacement for a discontinued mattress I loved. While it might suit those who prefer very soft beds with minimal support, I strongly advise others to avoid it.
