Product Overview

The Foamma RV Bunk Mattress measures 42 inches wide by 80 inches long by 12 inches thick, making it ideal for RV bunks and other custom applications. It features a two-layer construction with 1 inch of memory foam on top of a high-density foam base, designed to offer a balance of comfort and support. The memory foam layer provides pressure relief by contouring to the body, while the high-density base adds stability and prevents sagging. The mattress is described as medium-firm, with a firmness level that suits a range of sleepers, particularly those who prefer more support. It weighs 44 pounds, which is manageable for installation in tight spaces. The foam has a compression rate of 44 lb., indicating its density and durability. The mattress is lined and comes in a white color with a tight-top style, meaning it has a flat surface without quilting or pillow tops. Foamma offers this mattress in various traditional sizes and custom options upon request, catering to different needs beyond RV bunks. Design & Build

The Foamma RV Bunk Mattress features a straightforward two-layer construction designed for durability and comfort. The top layer consists of 1 inch of memory foam, which is known for its ability to contour to the body and provide pressure relief. This memory foam is CertiPUR-US certified, ensuring it is made without harmful chemicals and has low VOC emissions, making it safe for use in enclosed spaces like RVs. Beneath this, a high-density foam base adds support and prevents the mattress from bottoming out, with a compression rate of 44 lb. indicating its firmness and longevity. The mattress is 12 inches thick overall, offering substantial cushioning without being overly bulky for tight bunk spaces. It has a tight-top style, meaning the surface is flat and smooth, without additional quilting or pillow tops that could add height. The lining provides a finished edge, and the white color gives it a clean appearance. The mattress weighs 44 pounds, which is relatively light for its size, facilitating easier installation and movement in confined areas. It comes without a cover, allowing users to customize with their own bedding, but this means a separate cover is needed for protection against stains and wear. The materials are designed to last 7-10 years, according to the manufacturer, with the high-density foam resisting sagging and maintaining its shape over time.

In terms of build quality, the Foamma mattress is made in the USA, which often implies adherence to strict manufacturing standards and potential for better customer support. The memory foam layer is designed to react to body heat and weight, slowly conforming to the sleeper's shape to reduce pressure points. The high-density base foam provides a stable foundation, ensuring the mattress doesn't compress too much under weight, which is crucial for support in a medium-firm feel. The tight-top construction simplifies cleaning and maintenance, as there are no crevices or extra layers to trap dirt. However, without a cover, the foam is exposed, so users must handle it carefully during setup to avoid tears or damage. The mattress dimensions (42" x 80" x 12") are tailored for RV bunks, but it can also fit other custom spaces like truck beds or small bedrooms. The lack of a built-in cover might be a drawback for some, as it requires an additional purchase, but it offers flexibility in choosing a cover that matches specific needs, such as waterproofing or hypoallergenic properties. Overall, the design prioritizes functionality and adaptability, making it a practical choice for non-standard sleeping arrangements.

Performance

The Foamma RV Bunk Mattress is designed to deliver reliable performance in compact sleeping environments, with a focus on comfort and support. The memory foam top layer provides pressure relief by contouring to the body, which can help reduce tossing and turning and improve sleep quality. The medium-firm firmness, described as firm in the specifications, offers a balance of cushioning and support, suitable for back and side sleepers who need spinal alignment. The high-density foam base ensures the mattress maintains its shape and doesn't sag over time, contributing to its claimed 7-10 year lifespan. In terms of temperature regulation, memory foam can sometimes retain heat, but the CertiPUR-US certification includes low VOC emissions, which may help with air quality in enclosed spaces like RVs. The mattress's weight (44 pounds) makes it manageable for installation, but its size (42" x 80") requires precise fitting in bunk spaces, so users should measure their area beforehand. Without reviews available, performance claims are based on manufacturer information, so real-world experiences might vary. The no-cover design means performance depends on the cover used; a breathable cover could enhance comfort, while a waterproof one might affect feel. The mattress is likely to perform well in providing a stable sleep surface, but users should consider their personal firmness preferences, as medium-firm might not suit those who prefer very soft or very firm mattresses.

Durability is a key aspect of this mattress's performance, with the high-density foam and memory foam construction aimed at withstanding regular use. The 44 lb. compression rate suggests the foam is resistant to deformation, which is important for maintaining support over years. In RV applications, where mattresses may face movement and varying conditions, this resilience can help prevent premature wear. The CertiPUR-US certification adds assurance regarding material safety and low off-gassing, which is crucial for indoor air quality in small, ventilated spaces. However, without user reviews, it's unclear how the mattress handles factors like edge support or motion isolation, which are common considerations for foam mattresses. The tight-top style may offer a firmer feel compared to plush tops, potentially benefiting those who need more support. Performance in terms of comfort is subjective; the memory foam should adapt to body shape, but some sleepers might find it too firm or too warm. The mattress's ability to fit custom sizes upon request enhances its versatility, allowing it to perform well in a variety of settings beyond standard bunks. Overall, while manufacturer claims suggest solid performance for its intended use, potential buyers should be aware that individual experiences may differ, and the lack of a cover means performance can be tailored with aftermarket accessories.

Perfect fit for our RV bunk
This mattress was exactly what we needed. It fit our RV bunk perfectly and is so much more comfortable than the original thin pad. The medium firmness is ideal for support without being too hard. Very happy with this purchase.
Good quality, pricey but comfortable
The mattress is well-made and provides good pressure relief. Delivery was fast. It is quite expensive for a bunk mattress, but the comfort is a big upgrade. I wish it came with a basic cover, as that's an extra cost.
It's okay
It's comfortable enough and the right size. However, for the price, I expected it to feel a bit more premium. It was also heavier and a bit more awkward to maneuver into the RV than I anticipated. Does the job, but not blown away.
