Performa Sleep 11” Essential Memory Foam Mattress Full - Medium-Firm Pressure Relief, Cooling Comfort, Motion Isolation & Supportive Base Foam for Stomach, Back & Side Sleepers | CertiPUR-US® Certified

Product Overview

This Performa Sleep mattress measures 75 inches long by 54 inches wide with an 11-inch thickness, weighing 64.5 pounds in the full size. The four-layer construction begins with a breathable polyester blend cover that can be removed for washing. Below this, a 2-inch plush gel-infused memory foam layer conforms to the body while helping regulate temperature. Next, a 2-inch medium-firm comfort foam layer enhances pressure relief and stability. The foundation is a 7-inch durable base foam that maintains the mattress structure over time. The medium-firm feel balances support and cushioning, making it versatile for different sleeping positions. Reviewers describe it as not too soft that you sink in uncomfortably, nor too firm that pressure points develop. The mattress works with any base including platform beds, adjustable bases, or box springs. It arrives rolled and compressed in plastic packaging, requiring careful unboxing and 24-48 hours to fully expand. Some users note slight off-gassing that dissipates within a day or two. The 11-inch profile provides substantial height that fits standard full-size sheets without issue. Edge support is solid for a foam mattress according to reviewers. The cooling features include both the gel-infused foam and breathable cover to help prevent heat buildup. Motion isolation is effective, reducing sleep disturbance from partner movement.

Design & Build

The Performa Sleep 11” Essential mattress features a straightforward four-layer construction designed for durability and comfort. The removable polyester blend cover uses a stretch knit fabric that accommodates the mattress's expansion and provides breathability. This cover can be machine washed, making maintenance straightforward. Beneath the cover, the 2-inch gel-infused memory foam layer contains cooling gel beads that help dissipate body heat. This layer responds slowly to pressure, conforming to the sleeper's contours. The manufacturer claims this foam is higher quality than many competing brands. Below this, a 2-inch medium-firm comfort foam provides transitional support, preventing the feeling of sinking too deeply into the mattress. The 7-inch base foam forms the foundation, using high-density foam to maintain structural integrity over years of use. The mattress edges are reinforced to provide solid edge support, allowing sleepers to utilize the full sleeping surface. The 11-inch total height gives the mattress a substantial feel while remaining compatible with most bed frames and sheet sets. The medium-firm feel rating comes from the combination of these layers, creating a balance between pressure relief and support.

Construction quality appears solid according to reviewers, with no immediate signs of defects or inconsistencies. The mattress arrives tightly rolled in plastic packaging within a cardboard box, requiring careful unboxing to avoid damaging the materials. Once freed from packaging, the mattress expands rapidly, reaching near-full height within hours but requiring 24-48 hours to completely off-gas and reach its final firmness. Some users report a slight chemical smell upon unboxing that dissipates within a day or two. The CertiPUR-US certification indicates the foams meet specific standards for content, emissions, and durability. The mattress works with any supportive base including platform beds, slatted foundations with proper spacing, adjustable bases, or traditional box springs. The non-slip bottom helps keep it in place on most surfaces. Cleaning involves spot cleaning or removing the washable cover for deeper cleaning. The mattress should be rotated periodically to ensure even wear, though flipping is not recommended due to the one-sided design. Overall build emphasizes practical durability over luxury features, targeting value-conscious consumers seeking reliable performance.

Performance

Sleepers report the mattress provides excellent pressure relief, particularly for hips, shoulders, and knees. The medium-firm feel accommodates various sleeping positions, with back sleepers appreciating the lumbar support and side sleepers noting reduced pressure on shoulders and hips. Stomach sleepers find adequate support to keep spines aligned. Many reviewers mention waking up without morning aches or stiffness. The gel-infused memory foam layer does help regulate temperature, with several users noting they sleep cooler than on traditional memory foam mattresses. However, some still experience warmth during hot nights, suggesting the cooling effect is moderate rather than extreme. Motion isolation performs well, with partners reporting minimal disturbance when the other person moves or gets out of bed. Edge support is solid for an all-foam mattress, allowing sleepers to use the full surface area without feeling like they might roll off. The mattress maintains its shape well initially, with no immediate sagging reported in reviews. The 11-inch height provides a substantial feel that many users appreciate, making it easier to get in and out of bed compared to thinner mattresses.

Long-term durability remains uncertain as most reviewers have used the mattress for limited periods. The high-density base foam suggests good longevity potential, but only time will tell how well it resists sagging. The mattress handles weight distribution effectively, with heavier sleepers still finding adequate support according to reviews. Some users note the mattress feels firmer initially but softens slightly after the break-in period. Off-gassing is minimal for most, with any chemical smell dissipating within 48 hours. The mattress works well on various bases, though very flexible slatted foundations might require additional support. Heat retention varies by individual, with temperature-sensitive sleepers possibly needing additional cooling solutions in warm climates. The mattress provides good value according to many reviewers, performing comparably to more expensive options. Noise is virtually nonexistent, with no squeaks or crinkling sounds during movement. Overall performance balances comfort, support, and temperature regulation at a mid-range price point, making it a practical choice for those seeking memory foam benefits without premium costs.
