Greaton 4-Inch High-Density Foam RV Mattress Replacement - Medium Firm, Short Queen Size, Green Vinyl, for Trailers & Camper Vans

Product Overview

This mattress measures 75 inches long by 60 inches wide with a 4-inch thickness, fitting the short queen size common in many RVs and trailers. It weighs 45 pounds, making it manageable for installation in confined spaces. The core consists of high-density foam covered by a waterproof vinyl material that resists stains and moisture. The manufacturer notes the foam may take 3-4 days to fully expand after unrolling from its compressed shipping state. While designed as a mattress replacement, its versatility allows use in chairs, sofas, cushions, and other furniture requiring supportive foam. The tight top style provides a smooth sleeping surface without quilting or pillow tops. Care instructions specify hand washing only for the vinyl cover. The foam can be customized with cutting tools for tailored sizing or stacking for added thickness.

Design & Build

The Greaton RV Mattress features a simple, functional design centered on practicality for mobile living. Its construction combines a high-density foam core with a waterproof vinyl cover, creating a durable barrier against moisture and spills. The vinyl material is smooth and non-porous, allowing for quick wipe-downs without absorbing liquids. The foam itself is medium firm, providing a balance between support and comfort without excessive sinkage. The tight top style means there are no additional layers or quilting, resulting in a uniform surface that maximizes the foam's supportive properties. The mattress edges are straight-cut, facilitating easy customization if trimming is needed for specific RV layouts or furniture frames.

Build quality emphasizes resilience and longevity. The high-density foam resists permanent indentations, bouncing back to its original shape after weight is removed. This characteristic makes it suitable for regular use in RVs where space constraints might require sitting on the mattress during the day. The vinyl cover is sealed to prevent moisture penetration, protecting the foam from mold or mildew in humid environments. While the cover is not removable, its waterproof nature simplifies maintenance. The mattress lacks handles or grips, so moving it requires lifting from the sides. Its 45-pound weight makes it manageable for one or two people during installation. The green color of the vinyl cover provides a neutral aesthetic that blends with various interior decors.

Performance

In practical use, the mattress delivers consistent medium firm support suitable for back and side sleepers. The high-density foam distributes weight evenly, reducing pressure points without excessive softness. The waterproof vinyl cover performs effectively against spills, allowing liquids to bead up for easy wiping. This feature is particularly valuable in RVs where accidental spills are common. The foam's resilience ensures it maintains its shape over time, avoiding sagging that can occur with lower-density materials. The mattress does not have advanced temperature regulation, so it may retain heat in warm conditions due to the vinyl cover's non-breathable nature. However, this trade-off enhances its moisture resistance, a priority in confined RV spaces where ventilation can be limited.

Durability stands out as a key performance aspect. The vinyl cover resists tears and abrasions from regular use, while the foam core withstands compression without permanent deformation. The mattress holds up well in moving vehicles, as the dense foam minimizes shifting during travel. Its 4-inch thickness provides adequate cushioning for most users, though those preferring plusher surfaces might find it firm. The customization capability allows users to adapt the mattress to non-standard spaces, enhancing its utility beyond standard RV beds. While no user reviews are available to confirm real-world experiences, the manufacturer's specifications suggest reliable performance for its intended applications. The hand wash care requirement for the cover ensures longevity, though spot cleaning is typically sufficient for routine maintenance.
