FoamTouch 6" Gel-Memory-Foam-Mattress No Cover : Gel-infused memory foam Review

The FoamTouch 6" Gel Memory Foam Mattress is a no-cover mattress designed for versatile comfort applications beyond traditional bedroom use. It targets users seeking an affordable, adaptable foam solution for RVs, campers, bunk beds, semi-trucks, and DIY furniture projects. The core value lies in its combination of gel-infused memory foam for pressure relief and cooling with a high-density foam base for durable support. Standout features include its USA-made construction, vacuum-sealed packaging for easy shipping and setup, and multifunctional potential for seat cushions, upholstery repair, and more. This mattress appeals to practical buyers who prioritize customization and portability over premium bedroom aesthetics.

Product Overview

The FoamTouch mattress measures 72 inches long by 30 inches wide with a 6-inch total thickness, weighing 13.84 pounds. It consists of two foam layers: a 1-inch top layer of gel-infused memory foam with a 3-pound density for contouring and cooling, and a 5-inch base layer of high-density foam with a 1.8 density and 44 ILD compression rate for support and durability. The manufacturer claims it maintains shape and performance for 7โ€“10 years. The mattress comes in a gel-on-white-foam color and is not water-resistant. It ships vacuum-sealed and rolled in compressed packaging for efficient handling; users must carefully remove packaging without sharp objects, unroll the foam, and allow 2โ€“3 days for full expansion before use. No cover is included, which enhances versatility for custom applications but may require additional protection for some uses. Reviewers note it fits well in campers, top bunks, and semi-trucks, with some trimming it easily with a razor knife for narrower spaces. The unit count is one, and it is categorized as an RV/bed mattress.

Design & Build

The FoamTouch mattress features a straightforward two-layer foam construction without a cover, emphasizing functionality over ornate design. The top layer uses 1-inch gel-infused memory foam with a 3-pound density, which contours to the body to relieve pressure points and promote spinal alignment. This layer incorporates cooling technology through gel beads that dissipate heat, aiming to prevent overheating during sleep. The bottom layer consists of 5-inch high-density foam with a 1.8 density and 44 ILD compression rate, providing a firm foundation that resists sagging and ensures long-term support. The entire mattress is made from polyurethane foam and measures 72 inches by 30 inches by 6 inches, making it a compact option for spaces like campers and bunk beds.

Aesthetics are minimal with a gel-on-white-foam color scheme, focusing on practicality rather than decorative appeal. The mattress ships vacuum-sealed and rolled, reducing its size for easier shipping and handling; users must unroll it carefully and allow 2โ€“3 days for full expansion. Cleaning and maintenance are simple due to the no-cover design, but it is not water-resistant, so spills require prompt attention. Reviewers note the foam is easy to trim with tools like a razor knife for custom fits, enhancing its adaptability. Durability is supported by the high-density base and a claimed 7โ€“10 year lifespan, though long-term performance depends on usage and care. The lack of a cover means users may need to add their own protection for hygiene or durability in certain applications.

Performance

In terms of comfort and support, the FoamTouch mattress performs well for its intended uses. The gel-infused memory foam top layer provides noticeable pressure relief and contouring, which reviewers describe as comfortable and firm. Many users report it enhances sleep quality in RVs, campers, and bunk beds by aligning the spine and reducing discomfort. The high-density foam base offers stable support that prevents sagging, contributing to a restful sleep experience. Cooling performance is adequate due to the gel infusion, which helps regulate temperature and reduce overheating, though it may not match premium cooling technologies in higher-end mattresses. The mattress maintains its shape over time, as claimed by the manufacturer, with no significant compression issues noted in reviews.

Practical performance aspects include easy portability and customization. Reviewers highlight that the mattress is lightweight and easy to handle, fitting well in tight spaces like camper beds and semi-truck bunks. Some users trimmed it quickly with a razor knife to fit narrower areas, demonstrating its adaptability. However, the no-cover design means it may accumulate dust or stains without additional protection, and it is not water-resistant, so moisture exposure should be avoided. The vacuum-sealed packaging simplifies setup, but once expanded, returning the mattress is challenging, as noted by a reviewer who mentioned Amazon return policies require original packaging. Overall, the mattress delivers reliable performance for versatile applications, balancing comfort, support, and practicality without the frills of a covered mattress.

Ideal for Camper Use
I used these as replacements for twin beds in a camper. They were easy to modifyโ€”I had to cut one to fit a narrower bed. They are comfortable, and I have no complaints.
Excellent fit and comfort for my truck bunk
This product fits perfectly in the top bunk of my semi Volvo truck. It is firm yet comfortable, and I am very satisfied with it. I give it a 5.0 out of 5 stars rating.
Good product quality, but misleading return policy
The product itself is satisfactory. I've been looking for a camper mattress and found this one to be fine, though I ultimately chose a similar product that was slightly cheaper and included a cover. However, the return process through Amazon is problematic. The advertised 'free' returns only apply if the item is in its original packaging. Since the mattress is vacuum-packed, once opened, it cannot be repackaged as originally shipped. In such cases, a $6.99 fee is charged for a return label, and you must also supply your own box. I managed to use leftover cardboard to create a box, but purchasing a new box large enough for the expanded mattress would likely be costly. Amazon should be clearer about these return conditions at the time of purchase. Had I known, I might have bought from a different retailerโ€”perhaps this lack of transparency is intentional.
