OUUI Queen Size Mattress - 5 Inch Gel Memory Foam, Medium Firm, CertiPUR-US Certified, Cool Sleep & Pressure Relief, Breathable Cover, Mattress in a Box

Product Overview

The OUUI mattress is a 5-inch thick, queen-size mattress with a white, breathable cover and a medium-firm feel. It measures 80 inches long by 60 inches wide, fitting standard queen frames, daybeds, trundle beds, and bunk beds. The construction includes two layers: a gel memory foam top layer for contouring and pressure relief and a high-density foam base layer for durability and support. The gel infusion is intended to create a cooler sleep surface by dissipating body heat. Reviewers note it works well in campers and RVs, with some cutting it to size for custom fits. It ships compressed in a box, requiring up to 48 hours to fully expand and off-gas any initial odor. The mattress is CertiPUR-US certified, ensuring it meets safety standards for emissions, durability, and content. Care involves allowing it to air out and using a mattress protector for longevity. Its compact design makes it portable for temporary or space-constrained uses, though it is not foldable or customizable.

Design & Build

The OUUI mattress features a straightforward two-layer design with a 5-inch total thickness. The top layer consists of gel-infused memory foam, which is intended to contour to the body and dissipate heat. This gel technology aims to prevent overheating, a common issue with traditional memory foam. The bottom layer is a high-density foam base that provides foundational support and durability, ensuring the mattress maintains its shape over time. The cover is made of a breathable, white fabric that promotes airflow and is designed to be tight-fitting, reducing shifting and bunching. The mattress ships compressed in a box, utilizing patented technology for efficient rolling and shipping, making it easy to transport and set up in various locations.

In terms of build quality, the mattress is CertiPUR-US certified, indicating it meets standards for content, emissions, and durability. Reviewers report minimal off-gassing odor upon unboxing, with some noting no smell at all. The construction allows it to fit into compact spaces like RVs and campers, and it can be cut to size if needed. However, it is not foldable or portable in the sense of daily movement. Cleaning is straightforward with a mattress protector, and the materials are designed to resist wear. Aesthetics are simple with a white color, blending into most decors. The lack of handles or reinforced edges may limit ease of repositioning, but its lightweight nature aids in setup.

Performance

The mattress performs well in providing cool, supportive sleep, according to many reviewers. The gel-infused memory foam effectively draws heat away, with users reporting comfortable sleep even in warm environments, such as a trailer with overnight lows near 90°F. It contours to the body, reducing pressure points and aligning the spine, which helps alleviate discomfort for those with injuries. The medium-firm feel offers a balance of support and slight plushness, though some reviewers describe it as firm rather than medium-firm. It minimizes tossing and turning, contributing to more restful nights. The high-density base layer ensures stability, preventing sagging and maintaining shape over time, as noted in long-term use cases like campers.

However, performance varies among users. Some find the mattress too firm, leading to initial neck and back pain until they add a mattress topper for extra softness. It may not suit sleepers preferring a plush feel. The 5-inch thickness provides adequate support for average-weight individuals but might lack cushioning for heavier users, though one reviewer who is bigger reported good support. Temperature regulation is generally effective, but it may not match thicker, premium mattresses in extreme heat. The mattress holds up well in mobile applications like RVs, with no significant degradation reported after a year. It resists odors and maintains its form when used with a protector, making it a reliable option for secondary or space-constrained sleeping areas.
