HYLZVN Full Size Sofa Bed Mattress 4 Inch - Memory Foam, Fiberglass-Free, CertiPUR-US Certified for Sleeper Sofas, Pull Out Couches, Daybeds, RVs, Boats & Guest Rooms

Product Overview

This mattress measures 73 inches long by 52 inches wide by 4 inches thick, making it distinct from standard full-size mattresses that are typically 75" x 54". The non-standard dimensions are specifically designed to fit sleeper sofa frames, pull-out couches, RVs, boats, and daybeds. The 4-inch profile consists of two layers: a high-density base foam for structural support and a plush memory foam top layer for comfort. The mattress weighs 19 pounds, making it relatively portable for its size. It features a removable zippered cover made from non-slip fabric that keeps the mattress securely in place on sofa bed frames. The cover is machine washable and tumble dry safe on low settings. While designed primarily for sleeper sofas, reviewers note it works well as a floor mattress, daybed topper, or play mat. The mattress arrives compressed in a box for convenient delivery and handling. Some reviewers mention it expands fully within two days when left out of the vacuum packaging. The product includes only the mattress itself—no frame, couch, headboard, or other accessories are included.

Design & Build

The HYLZVN sofa bed mattress features a straightforward two-layer construction with practical design elements for sleeper sofa applications. The 4-inch profile consists of a high-density base foam that provides firm structural support, topped with a plush memory foam layer that conforms to body contours. This combination aims to prevent the uncomfortable feeling of sofa bed bars or mechanisms while offering adequate cushioning. The mattress dimensions—73 inches long by 52 inches wide—are specifically engineered for sleeper sofa frames rather than standard bed sizes, though some reviewers note it's slightly narrower than expected. The non-slip fabric bottom helps keep the mattress securely positioned on sofa bed frames during use and folding.

Maintenance is simplified through a removable zippered cover that's machine washable and safe for tumble drying on low heat. The cover's discreet zipper allows easy removal without compromising aesthetics. The foam itself is CertiPUR-US certified and completely fiberglass-free, addressing common safety concerns with budget mattresses. At 19 pounds, the mattress is substantial enough to feel durable yet manageable for moving between applications. The compressed delivery system reduces packaging waste and makes transportation easier, though full expansion requires 24-48 hours. The simple rectangular design with squared corners fits most sleeper sofa mechanisms without complicated adjustments.

Performance

Reviewers consistently praise the mattress for providing significantly more comfort than original sleeper sofa mattresses. Multiple users describe it as having 'just the right amount of firmness' that supports without causing back pain. The memory foam layer effectively cushions pressure points while the dense base foam prevents bottoming out on sofa bed mechanisms. One reviewer specifically notes they 'can't feel the bars under it yet,' indicating good barrier protection. The mattress maintains its shape well during regular use, with users reporting it folds up nicely with their pull-out couch mechanisms when dimensions are compatible. The non-slip bottom performs adequately at keeping the mattress in place during sleep.

Some performance considerations emerge regarding fit and compatibility. One negative review warns that 'your sofa will not close with this mattress on it,' suggesting thickness or dimension issues with certain sleeper sofa models. Most reviewers, however, report successful folding with their pull-out couches. The 4-inch thickness represents a compromise—thick enough for comfort but potentially challenging for some folding mechanisms. Temperature regulation appears adequate for a memory foam product, though specific insulation properties aren't detailed. The mattress shows good resilience after compression, with users reporting full expansion within the promised 24-48 hour window when given adequate time. Durability appears solid for the price point, with no early reports of sagging or deformation.
