Product Overview

The Heyward folding bed comes as a twin-size mattress measuring 77 inches long by 38 inches wide by 17 inches high when fully assembled. The mattress consists of 5 inches of CertiPUR-US certified memory foam that reviewers describe as firm but comfortable. The steel frame features a reinforced lattice design with locking wheels that support up to 300 pounds maximum weight. Assembly is required but comes with necessary tools including an Allen wrench and cutter for straps. The bed folds down to a 14-inch profile for storage, making it suitable for small spaces like offices, apartments, or guest rooms. The removable zippered jacquard cover can be machine washed for easy cleaning. The manufacturer includes a headboard as part of the package, though some reviewers note the casters could be higher quality. The bed is marketed as suitable for adults and comes with a basic customer service warranty. Multiple reviewers confirm the mattress expands quickly without odors and the frame feels sturdy enough for regular use. Some users recommend adding a mattress topper for extra comfort given the 5-inch foam thickness.

Design & Build

The Heyward folding bed features a practical design centered around portability and durability. The steel frame uses a reinforced lattice pattern that distributes weight evenly across the mattress surface. Four locking wheels enable easy movement between rooms while preventing unwanted rolling when locked. The frame stands 17 inches high, keeping sleepers elevated from floor drafts. Assembly requires connecting frame sections with four hand screws, which some reviewers note require firm pressure to align properly. The included tools—an Allen wrench and strap cutter—facilitate setup. The bed folds compactly to a 14-inch profile, making storage in closets or corners straightforward. The steel finish provides a modern aesthetic that blends with various room decors.

The 5-inch memory foam mattress sits securely on the frame without lateral shifting according to reviewers. A zippered jacquard cover encases the foam, featuring breathable mesh sides for ventilation. This removable cover is machine washable, simplifying maintenance. The mattress expands rapidly after unboxing with minimal off-gassing reported by users. The frame's construction prevents sagging even with regular use, though some note the casters feel basic. The bed includes a headboard that attaches during assembly. Overall, the design prioritizes functionality for temporary sleeping situations while maintaining a sturdy feel that users compare favorably to traditional guest beds.

Performance

Reviewers consistently praise the bed's comfort and stability for a folding design. Multiple users report sleeping comfortably for extended periods, with one noting a 250-pound individual found it firm yet supportive. The memory foam conforms to body shape without bottoming out on the steel frame. Temperature regulation works adequately according to users, with the breathable cover preventing excessive heat buildup. The 17-inch height makes getting in and out easy for most adults. The locking wheels function as intended, allowing smooth repositioning when needed. Some reviewers mention the bed feels substantial and well-built, with no creaking or instability during use. The mattress maintains its shape after multiple uses without permanent compression.

A few performance considerations emerge from user feedback. The 5-inch foam thickness may feel firm for some sleepers, leading several reviewers to recommend adding a mattress topper for enhanced comfort. The casters, while functional, could be higher quality according to some assessments. Assembly occasionally requires extra effort to align screw holes perfectly. The bed handles weight up to 300 pounds effectively, with no reports of frame bending or failure. When folded, the slim profile stores easily in tight spaces. Users appreciate the washable cover for maintaining hygiene between guests. Overall, the bed performs reliably as a temporary sleep solution, though those seeking plush comfort may want supplemental padding.
