Product Overview

The Sealy Posturepedic Plus Glenshaw is constructed as an innerspring mattress with a firm feel, measuring 15 inches in thickness. It features a pillowtop design that adds a soft, padded layer on top for enhanced comfort. The mattress uses memory foam as a fill material, which helps contour to the body and relieve pressure points. Its innerspring core includes 1,212 coils, providing a responsive and supportive base. The California King size dimensions are 83 inches in length, 72 inches in width, and 15 inches in thickness, weighing approximately 120 pounds. This size is ideal for larger bedrooms and couples who need extra space. The mattress comes as a single unit with no additional components. Care and maintenance involve using a mattress protector to maintain hygiene and rotating it periodically to ensure even wear. Portability is limited due to its weight and size, requiring professional delivery and setup. The firmness level is described as firm, which may suit sleepers who prefer minimal sinkage. The pillowtop layer offers a plush feel without compromising the underlying support. This model is part of Sealy's Posturepedic line, emphasizing spinal alignment and durability.

Design & Build

The Sealy Posturepedic Plus Glenshaw features a 15-inch thick design with a firm innerspring core and a pillowtop layer. The construction uses memory foam as a fill material, which adds contouring properties to the mattress. The innerspring system includes 1,212 coils, providing a responsive and supportive base that minimizes motion transfer. The pillowtop is integrated into the design, offering a plush surface that softens the firm feel. The mattress is covered in a standard fabric that is durable and breathable. The edges are reinforced to prevent sagging and extend the sleepable surface. The overall build emphasizes durability and support, with materials chosen for long-term performance. The design is straightforward, focusing on functionality over aesthetics, with a neutral appearance suitable for most bedrooms.

Cleaning and maintenance are simple, requiring regular vacuuming and the use of a mattress protector to prevent stains. The mattress should be rotated every few months to ensure even wear. The weight of 120 pounds makes it heavy, so moving or setting up may require assistance. The pillowtop layer is not removable, so spot cleaning is recommended for spills. The innerspring construction allows for good airflow, reducing heat retention. The firmness level is consistent across the mattress, providing uniform support. The materials are designed to resist dust mites and allergens, promoting a healthier sleep environment. The build quality reflects Sealy's reputation for reliable mattresses, with attention to detail in stitching and edge support.

Performance

The Sealy Posturepedic Plus Glenshaw performs well in providing firm support with added comfort from the pillowtop. The innerspring core offers responsive support that helps maintain spinal alignment, which many reviewers appreciate for back pain relief. The firmness level is consistent, making it suitable for sleepers who prefer minimal sinkage. The pillowtop layer adds a plush feel that reduces pressure points, particularly on shoulders and hips. Motion isolation is moderate due to the innerspring design, but the high coil count helps minimize disturbances. The memory foam fill contours to the body, enhancing comfort without compromising support. The mattress shows good durability in initial use, with no signs of sagging reported. The firm feel may be too hard for side sleepers or those who prefer a softer surface.

In terms of temperature regulation, the innerspring construction allows for adequate airflow, preventing overheating. The memory foam layer may retain some heat, but it is minimal due to the firm design. The mattress is heavy and may be difficult to move, but it stays in place once set up. Edge support is strong, thanks to reinforced edges, allowing sleepers to use the full surface. The pillowtop maintains its shape over time, with no significant compression noted. Reviewers mention that the mattress provides a balanced sleep experience, combining support and comfort. However, some note that delivery handling can be an issue, as seen in one review where the mattress arrived dirty. Overall, performance is reliable for those seeking a firm, supportive mattress with a touch of plushness.
