Product Overview

The Serta Five Star Mattress Tranquility is a queen-size mattress measuring 14 inches in height, constructed with multiple foam layers and durable coils for lasting support. It uses a 3-zone support foam system that specifically targets the lumbar and hip regions to enhance spinal alignment and full-body comfort throughout the night. A gel foam lumbar support band adds extra reinforcement for the lower back and hips. The mattress includes PillowSoft Aire Foam and Serta PillowSoft Foam for pressure relief, along with ActivBalance Support Foam to distribute weight evenly. Cooling Twist Gel Foam is integrated to improve airflow and dissipate heat, contributing to a cooler sleeping surface. The durable coil system reduces motion transfer, helping to minimize partner disturbance for undisturbed sleep. CertiPur-US certified, it meets standards for content, emissions, and durability. Delivered in a box, setup involves unboxing, unrolling, and allowing the mattress to expand, with the process taking only minutes. The firm feel is tailored to back and stomach sleepers who prefer less sinkage and more support. A 100-night trial and 10-year limited warranty provide assurance for long-term use.

Design & Build

The Serta Five Star Mattress Tranquility features a 14-inch profile with a multi-layer construction designed for firm support and durability. The top layers include PillowSoft Aire Foam and Serta PillowSoft Foam, which provide cushioning and pressure relief, while ActivBalance Support Foam helps distribute weight evenly. A key element is the 3-zone support foam system that targets the lumbar and hip areas, enhanced by a gel foam lumbar support band for additional reinforcement in these critical zones. The cooling Twist Gel Foam is integrated to improve airflow and heat dissipation, contributing to a cooler sleep surface. The mattress uses durable coils in the base layer to reduce motion transfer and minimize partner disturbance, ensuring lasting support. All materials are CertiPur-US certified, meeting standards for content, emissions, and durability, and the mattress is made in the USA with global components.

Aesthetically, the mattress has a clean and modern design suitable for various bedroom styles, with a cover that is likely removable or easy to clean for maintenance. The bed-in-a-box delivery method simplifies setup—users unbox, unroll, and allow the mattress to expand, a process that takes only minutes. The firm feel is consistent across the surface, tailored to back and stomach sleepers who require less sinkage. The construction emphasizes durability, with coils and foams built to maintain shape and support over time. Care involves regular rotation and proper foundation use to extend lifespan, and the warranty covers defects for up to 10 years. The design prioritizes ergonomics with zoned support, making it a practical choice for those seeking alignment and comfort without excessive softness.

Performance

The Serta Five Star Mattress Tranquility performs well in providing firm support and spinal alignment, particularly for back and stomach sleepers. The 3-zone support foam and gel band target the lumbar and hip areas, enhancing comfort and reducing pressure points throughout the night. Cooling Twist Gel Foam helps dissipate heat, contributing to a cooler sleep experience by improving airflow and reducing heat buildup. The durable coil system minimizes motion transfer, which can lead to undisturbed sleep by reducing partner disturbance. The firm feel promotes proper posture and reduces sinkage, offering a refreshing sleep surface that maintains its shape over time. Pressure relief from the foam layers combines with the supportive structure to alleviate discomfort in key areas.

In terms of insulation and temperature regulation, the cooling gel foam enhances breathability, though performance may vary based on room conditions and individual sleep habits. The mattress shows resilience to sagging and deformation due to its durable construction, with coils and foams designed for long-term use. There are no specific claims about temperature retention times, but the cooling technology aims to provide a consistent, comfortable sleep environment. The bed-in-a-box setup allows for easy expansion and quick readiness, with no reported issues in initial performance. The firmness level is consistent, making it suitable for those who prefer a supportive surface without excessive softness. Overall, it delivers on its promises of support, cooling, and durability, though individual experiences with firmness and temperature may differ.
